TopoLM: a language AI that understands brain structure and function

Our brains remain a formidable mystery. What if artificial intelligence could finally unlock its inner workings? Thatʹs the challenge taken up by a team at the EPFL with TopoLM, a language model that reproduces both the functioning and spatial mapping of the human cortex. Based on the principle that neighboring neurons often share the same mission, TopoLM spontaneously rearranges itself into clusters of artificial neurons.
