The microbial richness of corals, a medical and biotechnological treasure trove

Coral reefs are teeming with life: they are home to more than a third of marine multicellular species, despite covering less than one percent of the seabed. As part of the Tara Pacific expedition (2016-2018) conducted with the Tara Océan foundation, an international consortium including ETH Zurich and EPFL analyzed more than 800 coral samples taken from a hundred Pacific reefs.
