Etna: a unique volcanic formation

Etna, Europe's most active volcano, has intrigued scientists for centuries. A study by the University of Lausanne reveals a 4th model of volcanic formation: deep pockets of magma, squeezed by the movement of tectonic plates, are thought to be at the origin of this giant.
